Bowlers end strong season

Led by coaches Ken Gurken, Lisa Wehrspahn, and Bud Gatena, the Boys’ and Girls’ Bowling had very successful seasons, striking their way through to excellent victories!

The boys’ team finished with a 6-4 Conference record.

The varsity team consisted of Brandon Birch (12), Ryan Petsche (12), Andrew Mattoon (12), Jared Lattner (11), Logan Wersinger (12), Hunter Winner (9), Jacob Bakey (12), and Grant Paar (12).

JV men went 7-2 was lead by Peter Sullivan (9), Mason Krieg (9), Aiden Bettcher (9), and Logan Jasper (9).

Varsity placed 3rd at the Conference tournament and took 2nd at the Clinton Invite.

Brandon Birch was named 1st team all-conference and 2nd team all-district. Ryan Petsche was 2nd team all-conference and Andrew Mattoon bowled all his was to state as an individual.

The Varsity girls also had a 6-4 conference record this season.

Varsity bowlers were Sydni Kirk (12), Sara Swift (12), Abriana Berwanger (10), Natalie Oertel (11), Samantha Neuses (9), Emma Clancy (10), Holli Farnam (12), and Alexis Scheffert (11).

The JV girls went 7-2 this season lead by Karoline Stratton (12), Kathryn Lincicum (11), and Grace Coleman (12).

The girls’ Varsity team also placed 3rd at the conference tournament.  Later that season they placed 1st at the regional championship and went on to place 8th at state!

Sydni Kirk finished 4th as an individual in the Iowa 3A state tournament with a two-game 187- 233- 420 score. She was honorable mention all-Mississippi Valley Conference with her average score being 148.9 during regular season.

Abriana Berwanger was named second team all-Mississippi Division in the Mississippi Valley Conference along with Sara Swift.
