From March 8-10th, the DSHS Key Club attended the 69th Annual Illinois-Eastern Iowa District Convention and Leadership Conference in Schaumburg, IL. At this convention, members attended workshops, elected a new District Executive Board, and met student leaders from across the two states.

On Saturday night, Advisor Mr. Cuvelier received the Payton/Kay/ Blunt Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award for outstanding service to the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District of Key Club International. For Cuvelier, receiving this lifetime honor was a bittersweet moment, as it will be his final year serving the DSHS Key Club before his retirement this spring. Cuvelier was nominated by the leadership team and district officers at Dubuque Senior. Voting was done by student leaders from across Iowa and Illinois by secret ballot. It is a high honor to be selected as the Outstanding Faculty Advisor, the award represents exceptional leadership and dedication to service and mentorship of students.

On Sunday morning, Jenna Meehan (12) received the Sandy Niniger Award. Nominated by the leadership team at Dubuque Senior and a representative by the Dubuque Kiwanis, Meehan was selected for this honor by a committee composed of her peers. The Sandy Niniger Award is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a Key Club member, with only 1 senior receiving the award out of the whole district. Meehan has spent the past year overseeing the Board of Directors of Illinois- Eastern Iowa Key Clubs as an Executive, and it was this board that voted by secret ballot to give her the award.

Additionally, Division 15 Lieutenant Governor Olivia Kruse (12), who spent the past year overseeing all the Key Clubs in Dubuque and Galena, was retired from office.
