Cakes and other baked goods are a more robust way to enjoy pumpkin spice. While it is more work than a latte or other beverage, it can be impressive if done well.

Fall is officially here and that means pumpkin spice will be everywhere! Below is a roundup of various food and drink items you can get right here in Dubuque during the autumn season.

Dairy Queen offers a pumpkin pie blizzard, which is vanilla ice cream, mixed in pieces of pumpkin pie, and topped with whipped cream and nutmeg. They also offer a snickerdoodle cookie dough blizzard made up of vanilla ice cream blended with snickerdoodle cookie dough and cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top.

Starbucks is one of the most popular places people go to purchase fall themed drinks. Their specialty is their famous pumpkin spice latte, which contains expresso and milk flavored with pumpkin, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, and topped with whipped cream and pumpkin pie spices on top. Starbucks also has a salted caramel mocha Frappuccino. This includes mocha and toffee nut syrup mixed with coffee, milk,  ice, and finished off with whipped cream, caramel, sugar, and sea salt sprinkled on top.

Dunkin Donuts has many different “scary good” fall treats. The pumpkin or maple flavored can be ordered hot, iced, frozen and espresso. The apple crisp donuts include apple-filling, caramel icing, and a sweet, crisp oat topping. Dunkin’s maple sugar bacon breakfast sandwich is sure to fill you up. It is a flaky croissant with eggs, American cheese, and double serving of maple sugar bacon. Lastly, the simple, yet delicious, maple cream cheese will spice up any bagel.

Czipars Apple Orchard, a Dubuque area staple, sells apple cider and homemade apple cider donuts tossed in cinnamon, sugar, and other various fall spices. Hours are seasonal and can be checked at   http://cziparsorchards.com/
