Confidence is key

Confidence does not always come naturally. But once confidence is present, one’s life can truly change.

From time to time, the Rampage publishes work from students in Journalism class. While these writers are not part of the regular staff, their work meets many (or all) of the same requirements of those on the Rampage staff. We congratulate these writers on their work!

Having confidence sounds like a walk in the park, but it can be difficult and take time to understand what confidence truly means.

Your lack of self-confidence could be what is holding you back from the world, but having some guidelines can you put on the track of being the best version of yourself.

Here is some advice if you want to have more confidence:

Kill Negative Thoughts

Making yourself believe terrible thoughts about yourself puts you in a situation for the worse. When you think of yourself as not pretty enough or not skinny enough, the appearance you have on yourself can slowly become worse with every little opinion. Instead, think of all the good things you can bring to the table and try to find a way to fix the bad thoughts. In addition, the way you think of not only yourself, but also others can make a huge amount of difference in the way you view the world.

Spread Kindness

What was stated in the last sentence above leads into another piece of advice. When you are kind to others, you will receive the same kind of treatment in return, which will make you feel better about yourself. The act of kindness can be something so tiny or something extremely big. There is no hurt in being kind and generous to others because in the end, being a good person to others will make you feel good on the inside and the outside.

Try Something New

Being yourself is the best advice to take into consideration, but trying something out that you would not normally do can always be a fun adventure. For example, you could dress up, put on some makeup, and in general do something for yourself that is not normal. Taking yourself out of your comfort zone can drastically change the way you look at yourself and not constantly see yourself as a negative. Look in the mirror with the fun change you have made and think of yourself with only positivity.

Avoid Negative Spaces

Occasionally, it is needed to take a break from something that can be very stressful. If the things you do or the places you go on the daily are ruining how you feel, then you should consider taking a personal day, even if what you do is important or necessary. Self-care is extremely important when it comes to wanting to have strong confidence, so when you start each day feeling the same way, the way you look at yourself will likely never change.

Embrace your personality

The last piece of advice to help with your confidence and the most important advice is being yourself. Hiding behind a fake version of yourself can only make things worse when you are not out in the world. If you have a piece of clothing you like to wear, but are too afraid of being made fun of, wear it. If you like to dance and let it all out, do it. The most positive thought to think is to not let the judgment get to you if there is something that someone does not like. Live your life by making yourself happy and not by trying to please everyone else in the world.

When you have a strong and positive feeling about yourself, it can make a major difference in the way you live your life. Take some of this advice, apply it to the way you look at yourself, and you should feel the best you ever have about your confidence levels.
